"The Road" by Cormac Mccarthy

A writer friend whom I met at Tomales Bay, John, believes that fiction can make humanity better. After reading The Road, I agree.

Who knew that a father giving his son a can of Coca-Cola could be so beatific?

Isn't this an amazing book? I love the sparse language -- bare, like the landscape.

Your review was only one sentence, but it made me want to start reading right away.

I do think it can. It's hard to get the prose just right, though. Even if the message is a good one, when the writing is crummy, I'm just a seventh grader rolling his eyes.
